The Secret of the Ony-X Fitness & Therapy Icons Revealed

by D.O.C.

The mystery of the logos of my practice lie in my native roots of the Ibgo people, particularly the village of Oloko. Most people know me as Dr. O.C., but my entire name is Dr. Onyedikachi Chigozirim "Nwabugwu" Ibeji. My mom gave me my first name, my dad gave me my second name, and my grandma gave me my nickname. My grandma is the focal point of my fitness and therapy practice.

  • This is an original icon designed and conceptualized by myself, depicting the combination of four symbols;
    • The combined image of two people:
Rosaline Nweke Ahia

    • The lower part of the back leg representing the thenar eminence of the hand.
    • The upper part of the leg represents the Gateway Arch in my birthplace, St. Louis, Missouri.
    • The arms representing the hand of a clock.
  • The lower part of the back leg of the icon depicts the thenar crease of the human palm, which draws it's meaning from Psalm 31:15, "My Life is In Your Hands".
    • The thenar crease is important because it marks the boundary of the thenar eminence, a crucial area on the palm of the hand responsible for fine thumb movements like gripping, pinching, and opposition, which are essential for daily activities; essentially, the thenar crease indicates the location of the muscles that allow for the thumb's dexterity and flexibility. Without the thumb, 40% of the hand's function is gone.
  • Upper part of the legs represents the Gateway Arch, a prime National Landmark monument located in St. Louis, Missouri, my birthplace. The Gateway Arch is the starting point of the Lewis and Clark Expedition and Manifest Destiny.
  • Arms represent 1:55pm o’clock (Luke 1:55 = God’s Promise).
    • Arms also represents the distal palmer crease of the hand.
  • Green and white represents Nigerian national colors.
  • When combining the legs, arm and head of the icon, the entire unified image of my grandmother dancing represents freedom of movement of all affected populations.
